2026 will be one of the most intense year in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Following the events of earlier phases, Marvel is introducing both new series stories and a massive cinematic spectacle that will unite the universe's most important characters. Projects are planned across a wide range of genres, from live-action comedies and dark crime thrillers, animated films for all ages, to grand cinematic superhero battles.
WONDER MAN - JANUARY 27
Marvel’s 2026 slate kicks off with “Wonder Man”, a series that introduces Simon Williams, an actor struggling to survive Hollywood while secretly possessing extraordinary superhuman abilities. Unlike traditional MCU entries, the show leans heavily into satire, self-awareness, and character comedy, offering a sharp commentary on fame, ego, and the entertainment industry itself.
The lead role is played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known for Watchmen and The Matrix Resurrections. He is joined by Ben Kingsley, returning to the MCU as Trevor Slattery. The series is designed as a character-focused story with a lighter tone, blending superhero elements with humor and emotional introspection.

DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN SEASON 2 - MARCH
In March, Marvel shifts to a much darker register with the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again”. Set once again in Hell’s Kitchen, the series continues exploring the moral and psychological toll of vigilantism as Matt Murdock struggles to uphold justice in a city ruled by corruption and fear.
Charlie Cox reprises his role as Daredevil, alongside Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Krysten Ritter who will back as Jessica Jones and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. Season two is expected to deepen the conflict between Murdock and Fisk, while pushing the series further into political intrigue, brutal street-level action, and ethical ambiguity.

THE PUNISHER SPECIAL PRESENTATION - SPRING/SUMMER
Arriving later in the first half of the year is a standalone Marvel Studios Special Presentation centered on Frank Castle, better known as the Punisher. Designed as a shorter, self-contained story, the project follows the format established by Werewolf by Night, intense, stylized, and uncompromising.
Jon Bernthal returns to the role that defined his MCU legacy, delivering a raw and violent portrayal of a man driven by trauma, grief, and vengeance. The special is expected to focus on personal consequences rather than large-scale spectacle, reinforcing the Punisher’s place as one of Marvel’s most grounded and morally complex characters.

X-MEN ’97 SEASON 2 - SUMMER
Marvel Animation continues its momentum with the second season of “X-Men ’97”, the critically acclaimed revival of the iconic 1990s animated series. The new episodes will expand the mutant mythology even further, incorporating time travel, fractured timelines, and the looming threat of Apocalypse.
Returning voice actors include Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, and Lenore Zann as Rogue, while Ross Marquand plays a key role as Apocalypse. The series has become a cornerstone of Marvel’s animated output, blending nostalgia with ambitious, modern storytelling.

SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY - JULY 31
One of the year’s biggest cinematic releases is “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, the fourth Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland. Following the reality-altering events of previous installments, the movie is positioned as a fresh start for Peter Parker, one that strips the character back to his most human, vulnerable core.
Holland is joined once again by Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned. Notably, the film also features Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, signaling a more grounded, street-level tone. Sadie Sink joins the cast in a yet-to-be-revealed role, fueling speculation about new directions for the franchise.

YOUR FRIENDLY NWIGHBOORHOOD SPIDER-MAN SEASON 2 - FALL
Later this year, Marvel returns to animation with the second season of “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man”, an alternate-timeline take on Peter Parker’s early days as a hero. The series embraces a comic-inspired visual style and focuses on classic coming-of-age themes.
Hudson Thames continues voicing Spider-Man, while Charlie Cox lends his voice to Daredevil, further linking the animated series to the broader Marvel mythos. Season two is expected to introduce additional villains and allies while expanding the show’s unique universe.

VISION QUEST - FALL
“Vision Quest” arrives as a direct continuation of the storylines introduced in WandaVision. The series centers on Vision as he attempts to reconstruct his identity, memories, and sense of purpose after being restored as White Vision.
Paul Bettany returns in the lead role, with James Spader reprising his iconic performance as Ultron. Ruaridh Mollica will appear as Thomas Shepherd aka Tommy Maximoff/Speed. More philosophical than action-driven, the series explores themes of consciousness, artificial intelligence, and what it truly means to be human, positioning it as one of Marvel’s most introspective projects.

AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY - DECEMBER 18
Closing out the year is “Avengers: Doomsday”, a massive ensemble film and a defining chapter in the Multiverse Saga. The movie brings together heroes from across the MCU, including Avengers, mutants, and other factions, to confront a threat capable of collapsing reality itself.
The most shocking casting reveal wad Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU, this time as Victor von Doom / Doctor Doom. The film also features Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Letitia Wright, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans and legendary X-Men actors such as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. Designed as a true event film, Doomsday sets the stage for the future of Marvel on both a narrative and structural level.

Whether through grounded street-level drama, ambitious animation, philosophical sci-fi, or universe-shaking cinema, each project plays a distinct role in shaping the next era of the MCU. It’s a year that doesn’t just continue the story, it actively reshapes it.
